Children in Worship

Concerning children/youth in worship, the pastors, along with the members of the Worship Commission, periodically invite 6th – 12th graders to serve as acolytes (candle-lighters or cross carriers) and readers during Sunday morning worship. This is one of the ways we involve children/youth in our worship time. Additionally, we periodically offer a children's sermon during the Sunday morning worship service, but we do not offer a children's sermon every week. If you have the privilege of worshipping with a child, please know they are welcome to stay with us in worship or to attend their Sunday school class during the 10:45 a.m. worship hour.

Sunday School

10:45 a.m. Worship Service

  • For infants through age two, a Nursery is provided during Sunday School and Worship.

  • Preschool age children are invited to attend the "Extended Session Sunday School" in the Sunday School rooms of our church house during the 10:45 am worship hour.  During this time, children who have not yet begun grade school (pre-kindergarten) will be engaged in a Bible lesson, periodic musical education lessons, and play.

  • School-age children (Kindergarten through 5th grade) are also invited to attend their Sunday School during the 10:45 am worship hour with Bible lessons, art projects, periodic musical education lessons, and play.  Please note that if you want your children with you in the sanctuary during the worship hour, that is perfectly acceptable, and we invite parents and families to do what feels best and most comfortable for your family situation.

  • Children/Youth who are in the 6th grade and up are invited to attend Sunday morning worship and to serves as readers, acolytes, and worship leaders as asked.

  • Children's Worship Bags with coloring sheets and Crayons, age appropriate Bible word and picture games, pipe cleaners, stickers - all things to help engage their minds, hearts, and bodies during worship - are available on the bench outside the sanctuary for children who attend worship.
